Abstract：The growth properties of 5 ornamental bamboo species which are introduced from Hua'an county of Fujian province, i.e., Thyrsostachys siamensis, Bambusa vulgaris ‘Vittata’, B. pervariabilis×(Dendrocalamus latiflorus + Bambusa textilis), B. eutuldoides var. viridi-vittata and Dendrocalamus minor var. amoenus, are compared and analyzed in Nanjing county, Fujian province. The results show that all the 5 bamboo species show good growth adaptability; they are significantly different in the height, DBH, shoot yield and clump size (P<0.05), but show the least significant difference in the quantities of living culms (P>0.05). Among which, B. vulgaris ‘Vittata’ has the largest DBH, B. pervariabilis×(D. latiflorus+ B. textilis) has the highest shoot quantities and clump size, and D. minor var. amoenus has the largest quantities of living culms. B. vulgaris ‘Vittata’ and B. pervariabilis×(D. latiflorus+ B. textilis) have the highest biomass and moisture content in leaves, branches and culms, and show a stronger accumulation ability of photosynthetic product, which is conducive to the growth and morphological formation of new bamboos.
