Abstract:To solve the problems of the height limit of Dendrocalamopsis oldhami under facility cultivation and food security, the D. oldhami at the shooting period in Youxi Fujian were used as materials to compare the influence of the three methods including young shoot topping, stalk cutting and spraying plant growth regulators mepiquat chloride (DPC) on its plant height and other morphology indexes. The results showed that: 1) The height of culm treated by young shoot topping was significantly lower than that of the control group, and the dwarf effect was more obvious with the increase of the height of the young shoots. With the treatment, the dwarfing rate of the topped young shoots at 180 cm reached 56.49%, the under branch height and branching rate were apparently reduced by 36.69% and 12.13%,respectively, and main branch length increased by 8.45%; 2) After cutting stalk, the part from the top incision to the next node dried, and the culm height stopped growing. With the treatment, the dwarfing rate of the treated culm at 220 cm was 61.45%, the under branch height and branching rate separately decreased by 15.07% and 41.23%, and main branch length increased by 4.17%; 3) Spraying DPC with 9 different concentrations had no significant inhibition effect on plant height compared with the control group. The production practices indicated that the average culm height would be 234.70 cm when the height growth of young shoot topped at 180 cm finished, which met plant height requirement of facility cultivation and also could avoid the nutrition consumption of bamboo wood above the incision of cutting and remove DPC residual risk.
