Abstract：Most people will think the Hongmu furniture which use hardwood as the material once taking about Chinese traditional furniture. This is because Chinese traditional furniture mostly refers to the furniture made in Ming and Qing dynasties, where Hongmu, i. e., hardwood, was used as the main materials. In this sense, the traditional furniture made of other materials have been usually overlooked in the study of traditional furniture, including bamboo furniture. This paper made detailed analysis on the property, characteristics, change and extension of bamboo furniture from 3 perspectives, i. e., morphological characteristics of the traditional bamboo furniture, types of lines used in traditional bamboo furniture, the morphological feature of lines in traditional bamboo furniture, in order to conclude the basic characteristics and changing rules of the element of "lines" that are used in traditional bamboo furniture. This study is aimed at providing theoretic references to the inheritance and innovation of line design and application in modern bamboo furniture.
