Abstract:Dendrocalamus Nees, a genus of Bambusoideae, are the largest bamboos in the world. With great economic, ecological and social values, those bamboo species are important materials for people in their planting areas and have been widely cultivated and used. There are more than 46 species in Dendrocalamus around the world, which are mainly distributed in tropical and subtropical areas of Asia. Thirty seven species are endemic to south and southwest China, especially in Yunnan. With the literature investigation, 17 bamboo cultivars belonging to 9 species in this genus are reviewed and summarized, including 12 traditional cultivars and 5 newly registered cultivars. The review could be used as a reference for readers.
