Abstract：With the social development and progress, bamboo furniture has been accepted and popular as the trend of modern furniture development. The mechanical properties of bamboo determine its use, but most modern bamboo furniture follows the traditional style of bamboo furniture, failing to integrate the unique mechanical properties of bamboo and modern bamboo furniture design. This paper reviewed such the mechanical properties of moso bamboo as the specific strength, specific stiffness, elasticity, bending and compressive tensile strength, and their application in the design of bamboo furniture, with the purpose of providing new ideas for the development of the furniture industry in China.
