Abstract:The effects of clear-cutting methods, seasons for clear-cutting, height of stumps, fertilization ways and scarification depth on the growth of Dendrocalamus membranaceus cv. grandis forest were studied. The results showed that the small-area clear-cutting is beneficial to the mechanic logging operation, which could lower the labor costs and improve the productivity. The belt-shaped clear-cutting with 8-12 m in width is the optimal in production. Winter is the best season for clear-cutting. The height of stumps is better kept at 5-10 cm. The fertilization after clear-cutting could achieve better effects than soil fertilization, and compound fertilizers have better effect if applied. Plough and planting after the clear-cutting contribute to the bamboo forest growth, and the scarification depth is supposed to be more than 20 cm.
