Abstract:To improve the hydrophobic property and stability of bamboo, the super-hydrophobic micro/nano structure in a form of Chinese rose petals was built on bamboo surfaces by soft lithography, and nano TiO2 was added onto the bamboo surface to improve its stability. The samples were analyzed for their surface characteristics by SEM, EDS, XRD, FTIR, TGA and contact angle techniques. The results showed that the papillary micro-nano structures of Chinese rose petals were successfully constructed on bamboo surface, and water droplets on the surface had a contact angle of 154. 5 °, showing a good super-hydrophobic property. TGA results showed that the residual carbon content of the sample at 800℃ were still 31. 3%, left with a good thermal stability. The surface bionic technology could prolong the life span of bamboo and also contributed to increased added value.
