Abstract:The aboveground biomass distribution and the bamboo shoot components were analyzed for the different parts of Dendrocalamus brandishii ‘Indica’. The results showed that the moisture contents of its different parts were very significantly varied, and the moisture contents of its above-ground parts at different ages were also significantly changed; the biomass distribution in above-ground parts could be ordered as culm > branch > leaves, and the 2-year-old bamboo had the lowest biomass distribution for the same parts of bamboo of different ages while the biomass distribution was the highest in the 1st year bamboo. The simulation effect achieved the best between culm biomass & total stand biomass and the DBH & culm height, which could be used for the estimates of aboveground biomass. Its shoots were rich in free amino acids, including the 7 free amino acids that people need, and the contents of protein, soluble sugar and starch could meet the edible demands. The research results could provide the data supports for the promoted planting, development and utilization of D. brandishii.
