Abstract:The effect of fertilization on the growth of Phyllostachys edulis after snow hazards was studied by using 4 methods of bamboo cavity fertilization including bamboo production agent (BNP), urea, BNP + urea and plant growth regulator (GGR), with no fertilization as a control. The results showed that bamboo cavity fertilization could evidently increase the number of culms and the average DBH of Ph. edulis, and promote the bamboo forest recovery as soon as possible after snow hazards. After 3 years of continuous fertilization, the number of culms and DBH of Ph. edulis increased by 16.8% and 5.6% compared with that of the control. With the comparison between the different application methods, cavity applied BNP + urea was found with the best effect, followed by BNP and urea, while the cavity applied GGR had a significant effect on promoting the growth of bamboo DBH. These fertilization methods are worthwhile to be applied and promoted in practices.
