Developing Bamboo-based Energy in China: Significance and Suggestions

Abstract:Bamboo energy is an important part of biomass energy, which is featured with high calorific value, low pollution, wide distribution, large reserves and renewability. It has a broad range of application and huge development potentials. It is of great significance to develop bamboo-based energy in China. It is argued in the paper that developing bamboo-based energy is a critical way for the innovative development of bamboo industry, and an endeavor to help achieve the goal of carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, promote the healthy development of bamboo carbon sink, and improve the low-quality land use. It is proposed to formulate support policies for bamboo energy development, carry out research on new bamboo varieties cultivation and engage their targeted cultivation for energy use, and increase experimental demonstration of bamboo energy production so as to promote the development of China's bamboo energy industry.
